[Message] On April 8, Settling in Innovation Transformation Base of Shandong National Applied Mathematics Center & Project Launching Ceremony was held at Shandong University Science and Technology Innovation Town, Ji’nan.Guo Lei (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Peng Shige (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Fan Liming (President of Shandong University), Liu Jianya (Vice President of Shandong University), Lv Tao (Secretary of Ji’nan Licheng District Committee), Sang Xiaomin (Standing Member of Shandong University Party Committee and Director of Publicity Department, Shandong University) attended the ceremony.

Fan Liming expressed in the speech that, the project startup of Innovation Transformation Base of Shandong National Applied Mathematics Center is a key task of Shandong University to promote urban renewal, industrial upgrading and the transformation of old and new drivers, which adds a steady stream of new power for better serving Shandong and high-quality development of Ji’nan.The settling of the first batch of key projects in the Innovation Transformation Base helps explore a new mode of project construction and government-industry-university-research cooperation. She indicated that, National Applied Mathematics Center should accelerate theoretical and applied research from the four aspects of "new driving force, new atmosphere, new journey and new development", and strive to build the Innovation Transformation Base into a shining visiting card of Science and Technology Innovation Licheng and Science and Technology Innovation Ji’nan.Today, 13 scientific research and entrepreneurial teams involving 6 fields of finance, artificial intelligence, information technology, medical care, intelligent manufacturing and marine energy have successfully settled in the Innovation Transformation Base, marking Shandong National Applied Mathematics Center has officially started a new journey of substantive intersection and integration of mathematics and related fields.With sincerity, affection and responsibility, Shandong University will unite with all walks of life to tackle problems hand in hand, work hard to solve mathematical problems in national major scientific and technological tasks, major projects, and major needs of regional and enterprise development, and contribute to accelerating the building of "four Licheng", building a "big, strong, beautiful and smooth" modern international metropolis for Ji’nan and constructing a strong province of economy and culture for Shandong!

Wang Zhongwei, Director of Science and Technology Base Division, Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province, said that, the Government of Shandong Province will continuously enhance funding for innovation and basic research, and Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province will fully support the in-depth development of basic discipline research in Shandong University represented by Shandong National Center Applied Mathematics.Lv Tao mentioned in his speech that, the construction of Shandong National Center Applied Mathematics is a new start for Licheng District to serve Shandong University, and the settling in the Innovation Transformation Base will further give full play to the advantages of Shandong University such as educational resources, scientific and technological resources and intellectual resources, and inject strong impetus into the high-quality economic and social development of Licheng District, the whole city and even the whole province.

During the meeting, both Guo Lei and Peng Shige emphasized the idea of innovation and openness and advocated to focus on training youth strength so as to better combine basic mathematics and practical application.

Chen Zengjing, President of School of Mathematics, Shandong University, presided over the key project introduction.Guo Jiansu (Chief Marketing Specialist of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shandong Branch), Tian Guohui (Professor from School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University), Chen fang (former President of Luzheng Futures), Qin Jing (Professor from School of Mathematics, Shandong University), Shi Yufeng (Vice President of Zhongtai Securities Institute of Financial Studies),Yang Shuzhen (Associate Professor) and Li Weiyu (Research Assistant) introduced such key projects as “ICBC big data innovation lab”, “cognitive manipulation of housekeeping service robots”, “agricultural income insurance”, “searchable encryption technology”, “chain payment”, “financial risk control” and “noninvasive glucometer”.

National Applied Mathematics Center is a national scientific research platform which is set up by the Ministry of Science and Technology to deeply implement the spirit inSeveral Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Basic Scientific Researchissued by the State Council andWork Programme on Strengthening Research of Science of Mathematicsjointly issued by General Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology, General Office of the Ministry of Education, General Office of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Office of Natural Science Foundation of China.As an important extension of Shandong National Applied Mathematics Center, the Innovation Transformation Base relies on the advantages and characteristics of Shandong University in the field of applied mathematics, focuses on major requirements of key areas such as financial mathematics, intelligent control, artificial intelligence, information technology, precision medicine and marine energy and strives to provide the original driving force for the transformation of old and new drivers and economic development.

The launching ceremony was presided over by Qu Mingjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Mathematics, Shandong University.The heads of relevant organizations such as Licheng District Bureau of Science and Technology, Publicity Department of Shandong University, Research Institute of Science and Technology, Department of Cooperative Development, Office of Serving Shandong and Shandalu Street attended the launching ceremony.
