A few days ago, the leadership team of the School of Mathematics held a meeting on the work the new semester of 2021 in Zhixin Building to convey the resolutions of SDU's meeting on the same topic and deploy the key work of the School for 2021. Dean Chen Zengjing made an overall arrangement of the work of the School in the new semester, while Party Secretary Qu Mingjun presided over the meeting.

Mr Qu analyzed the tasks one by one and discussed the priorities of the School in 2021, focusing on five aspects: content improvement, innovation breakthrough, reform, governance optimization and construction peak. He pointed out that in the new semester, we should continue to strengthen the building of the Party, earnestly carry out the study and education of the Party's history, and effectively perform the ideological propaganda, to provide a strong political guarantee for the development of the School; we should carefully develop the School's "14th Five-Year Plan", and focus on strengthening key tasks such as cultural guidance, discipline construction, faculty development, and the three-wide development of the School and solidly promote comprehensive reforms while strictly implementing the requirements of various measures for normalized epidemic prevention and control; we should also leverage significant milestones such as the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, the 120th anniversary of the founding of SDU, and the 91st anniversary of the founding of the School to promote the diversified and integrated development of mathematics, enhance the core competitiveness of the School, gather momentum and seek opportunities to achieve leapfrog development.

Mr Chen Zengjing analyzed the priorities of the School facing the reform and development in the new period and new situation. He pointed out that 2021 is the first year of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, and the School should focus on the construction of "double first-class", systematically strengthen the planning and design of the discipline in 2021, and realize high-quality development of the discipline’s content. He said that the School should rely on national research platforms such as Shandong National Center for Applied Mathematics and Frontier Science Research Center for Nonlinear Expectations, formulate specific work plans focusing on Party building, education and teaching, three-wide education, international exchange, service to society, etc., and firmly ensure the implementation of the objectives and tasks.

Standing at a new milestone in the history, i.e., the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 120th anniversary of the founding of SDU, all the faculty and staff of the School of Mathematics will pursue excellence, seize every minute and work tirelessly with the spirit of the ox without fear of hardship.
