Abstract:

In this topic, we investigate the global dynamics of a multi-group SIR epidemic model on weakly connected network. When the interaction between different sub-groups are absent, we first assume that all solutions of each sub-group epidemic model converge to an equilibrium (i.e., disease-free equilibrium or endemic equilibrium). Then, if the interaction network is strongly connected, Li and Shuai (2010) have shown that the solutions of the coupled system also converge to a single equilibrium (i.e., boundary equilibrium or inner equilibrium). Further, when the interaction network is not strongly connected, we prove that the solutions of the weakly connected multi-group SIR epidemic model may converge to mixed equilibria whose coordinates are in the interior at some sub-groups while on the boundary at others. Some numerical simulations are carried out to verify our findings in this work.

Speaker Introduction:

Zhou Linhua, doctor, professor and postgraduate supervisor, is now the head of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the School of Science of Changchun University of Science and Technology, a leader of the mathematics discipline and director of Jilin Provincial Experimental Demonstration Center of Mathematics. He is also a visiting scholar to the University of Alberta, Canada. He is mainly engaged in researches on ordinary differential equation theory and its applications, biomathematics, etc. He has presided over one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and three projects at the provincial and ministerial levels; published more than 30 academic papers, including two ESI highly cited papers as the first author; and won one second prize of Jilin Provincial Award for Academic Achievements in Natural Science.
