Construction of solutions to semilinear wave equations blowing up on any given compact set

Abstract:

The blow-up phenomenon is one of the main concerns in nonlinear wave equations. For the focusing semilinear wave equations, given any compact set in R^n, we construct finite energy solutions which blow up at finite time exactly on $E$. Related blow-up surface results will be also introduced. This talk is based on joint works with Thierry Cazenave and Yvan Martel.

Introduction to the Speaker:

Zhao Lifeng, associate professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, mainly studies the harmonic analysis and nonlinear partial differential equations, water wave theory, geometric analysis, general relativity, etc., and currently takes charge of two national fund projects. He has published many papers in high-level journals such as JFA, JMPA, SIAM, CMP, CPDE, DPDE, JDE, and DCDS.
